Scary Movie is making a spooky return as Paramount and Miramax prepare to breathe new life into the franchise that has scared and entertained moviegoers around the world since its debut in 2000. The news was announced Thursday at CinemaCon, with the production of the new film scheduled for autumn.

Neal H. Moritz, the producer of Fast & Furious, will be at the helm of this new chapter which promises to use the horror genre with its characteristic irony. The first Scary Movie, directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, grossed over $278 million worldwide and launched a series of sequels, gaining a huge fan base.

While the horror genre has undergone a revolution in recent years, becoming a staple of the cinematic landscape, Scary Movie has always managed to adapt and maintain its place as one of the pillars of horror comedies. No information has yet been released about the cast or plot of the new film, and Paramount has yet to announce an official release date, but the film is expected to hit the big screen in 2025, bringing with it a new wave of terror – and laughter.
